Pirates reportedly continue to explore Andrew McCutchen trade
The Andrexit may inevitably be upon Pittsburgh.
According to a report by Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports on Wednesday, the Pittsburgh Pirates continue to explore deals involving former NL MVP Andrew McCutchen with a trade beginning to look increasingly likely.

McCutchen, 30, had something of a down year for the 78-83 Pirates in 2016, batting .256 with 24 home runs and 79 RBIs and failing to make the NL All-Star team for the first time in six seasons. But, as Rosenthal also notes, his contract, which will pay him $14 million in 2017 with a $14.5 million club option for 2018, remains attractive.
We already know of one prominent NL team that had interest in trading for McCutchen last season, and McCutchen’s own manager even implied recently that a deal might be in play. The five-time All-Star could fetch a nice basket of young prospects in return, but which specific team, if any, has the right trade chips to offer to the Pirates remains to be seen.
