A Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher drew some negative attention online Thursday for his actions towards a fan.
Pirates relief pitcher Dennis Santana had to be restrained from going after a fan who was leaning over the Pirates’ bullpen at Comerica Park in Detroit, Mich., during a doubleheader between the Pirates and Detroit Tigers.
Santana did not pitch in the first game of the doubleheader, but he appeared in the second game. Prior to that, he got into it with a fan and seemed to have a security guard of sorts who was next to him as he pointed out the fan. Then Santana was seen jumping up and swatting at the fan.

Santana was on the mound with the game tied at four in the bottom of the 9th inning when a rain delay occurred.
The 29-year-old reliever Santana is in his second season with the Pirates since they claimed him off waivers last year. He has been having the best season of his career and has gone 2-1 with a 1.74 ERA and 5 saves in 31 appearances. He has had 25 strikeouts and just 5 walks in 31 innings. The last time he received notice around here was for his short pants.
