The 28-year-old outfielder has not played at the MLB level since 2018 after spending last season with the Triple-A Columbus Clippers, affiliate of the Cleveland Indians. He holds a career .206/.276/.389 slash line with 22 home runs and 59 RBIs across four Major League seasons.
While it may not be as good of a story as when Thompson was in Oakland, the invite to spring training is definitely a step in the right direction for him.
