UCLA star Chase Strumpf homers minute after being drafted by Cubs
Monday night marked a day to remember for UCLA junior Chase Strumpf.
The second baseman was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the second round with the No. 64 overall pick at 8:51 pm PT.

He was in the on-deck circle for the Bruins during their winner-take-all regional game against Loyola Marymount at the time and stepped to the box at 8:52 pm. He was batting with runners on first and second, two outs, and UCLA up 3-2 in the bottom of the fourth. Then he got an 0-1 pitch and did this:

A preseason All-American, that was Strumpf’s ninth home run of the season. He led UCLA with 12 homers and 23 doubles last season.
