The New York Yankees apparently are not done pursuing potential upgrades to their roster.
According to Jon Heyman of Fancred, the Yankees have asked the Toronto Blue Jays about third baseman Josh Donaldson, who is likely to be dealt before midnight’s waiver trade deadline.
Sources: Yankees are among teams talking to jays about josh Donaldson. Toronto would have to pay down the 4M to go by at least half. Yanks will absolutely not go over threshold. (They are thought about 2.8M under)

As Heyman notes, the Yankees have the luxury tax to contend with, and will not surpass it to bring Donaldson in. We do know that they were certainly looking at upgrading the left side of their infield before the deadline, and they’re still interested in another bat, perhaps in part because of the Aaron Judge situation.
It’s also not clear how the Yankees would utilize Donaldson. Potential Rookie of the Year Miguel Andujar seems entrenched at third, though they did work him out at first base a bit in the minors. Donaldson has only played 18 innings at first base in his entire MLB career.
