Bobby Portis described as looking ‘shellshocked’ after trade to Wizards
Bobby Portis was traded to by the Chicago Bulls to the Washington Wizards on Wednesday, and the deal seems to have caught him by surprise.
Portis was acquired by Washington along with Jabari Parker in exchange for Otto Porter in a salary dump by Washington. The Athletic’s Darnell Mayberry says Portis looked “shellshocked.”
Bobby Portis just left the United Center. All he had with him was a small Louis Vuitton backpack on his back, a pair of shoes and a Bulls jersey. He looked shellshocked.

Why was he so surprised? He was just getting ready to play in the Bulls’ game against the New Orleans Pelicans. He also apparently had just expressed his affection for Chicago and desire to stay with the team long term.
Portis just left the United Center. As recently as yesterday, he talked about wanting to be a Bull long-term. Observers said he looked emotional.

Portis will be a restricted free agent after the season and is probably going to get a nice contract somewhere. The question becomes whether the Wizards match an offer he receives elsewhere.
