Dewayne Dedmon fined $50K by NBA for publicly requesting trade
Dewayne Dedmon is unhappy with the role he has played with the Sacramento Kings this season, and the veteran big man is hoping the team will trade him before the deadline next month. Because he shared those feelings publicly, his wallet is now a bit lighter.
The NBA announced on Thursday that Dedmon has been fined $50,000 for publicly stating this week that he wants to be traded. As Marc Stein of the New York Times notes, Anthony Davis was fined the same amount for talking about wanting out of New Orleans last season.

Dedmon, who signed a three-year, $40 million deal with the Kings this past offseason, is playing just 13.6 minutes per game after averaging 25.1 with the Atlanta Hawks last season. He told Jason Anderson of the Sacramento Bee that he wants the Kings to move him.
“I would like to be traded,” Dedmon said. “I haven’t been playing, so I would like to go somewhere where my talents are appreciated.”
The Kings were rumored to be interested in making a significant addition to their frontcourt earlier this season, so it’s unclear why they have not given Dedmon a bigger role. The 30-year-old averaged a formidable 10.8 points and 7.5 rebounds in 64 games with Atlanta last season.
