Dion Waiters has no hard feelings for Kevin Durant: ‘He’s still my brother’
Contrary to popular belief, not all of Kevin Durant’s former teammates on the Oklahoma City Thunder are bitter about his decision to leave.
In a recent interview with Tom D’Angelo of the Palm Beach Post, Miami Heat guard Dion Waiters, who had a close relationship with Durant during their time together in OKC, said that he has no hard feelings for the former MVP.
“We talked, he made a decision,” Waiters said, indicating that Durant’s exit also helped lead to his own departure from the Thunder this past summer. “He wanted something different. He wanted to get out of that comfort zone. I guess he made the best decision for him. Things didn’t go as planned so I just had to move on. I ain’t mad at him. He’s still my brother to this day.”
Waiters, who went on to sign a two-year, $6 million deal with the Heat, returns to Oklahoma City on Monday for the first time since leaving.
Durant’s decision to sign with the Golden State Warriors obviously hasn’t gone down too well with a number of his ex-teammates on the Thunder, but it’s at least good to know it didn’t tarnish his relationships with all of them.
