Miami Heat coach Erik Spoelstra says there are no hard feelings stemming from center Hassan Whiteside’s recent postgame rant.
After Saturday’s game against the Brooklyn Nets, Whiteside called it “bull—-” that he was benched down the stretch in favor of a smaller lineup. Whiteside has since apologized, and that is apparently good enough for Spoelstra.
“I talked to him,” Spoelstra said, via Shandel Richardson of the Sun-Sentinel. “We’re moving on. It’s behind us. You can tell right now by the mood of the gym that’s long gone. The only reason we’re addressing out of obligation to all of you because it really is a team matter, a family matter. We’re focused on getting the next one and securing our spot in this dance.”
The problem for the Heat is that Whiteside has spoken out about his playing time before. One has to wonder how much rope the team will give him, but they may not really have a choice.
