Ja Morant is already endearing himself to the Memphis sports community.
Morant attended Saturday’s Memphis 901 FC friendly against Pachuca. He took part in the ceremonial pregame guitar smash and succeeded in destroying it.

That might be the best pregame tradition we’ve seen.
Memphis is the heart of blues, soul and rock and roll, so the club developed a tradition of smashing a guitar before games.
“For every guitar smash we amplify our collective chip on our shoulder, we embrace our blue collar pride, we shout us against the world and we always #DefendMemphis” they say of the ritual.
The Grizzlies made Morant the No. 2 overall pick in Thursday’s draft. Two days later, he was already taking in a community event.
