Three of Kyrie Irving’s U.S. Olympic teammates play for the Golden State Warriors, and they should be bracing themselves for some trash talk.
The Cavaliers point guard told ESPN’s “Mike & Mike” that he plans to let Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, and Harrison Barnes hear about the NBA Finals when the team converges in Rio for the summer games.
“There’s a connection that we all share that’s bonded for life of USA Basketball that allows us to be comfortable and being with one another,” Irving said, via Victoria Nguyen of theScore. “But, you know, there will be a few jabs thrown … because there are three Warriors on this team, and I am the current champion, so I will be throwing it in their faces.”
Irving better be careful not to get those guys too motivated. Draymond Green in particular probably won’t take it quietly, given his propensity for trash talking. Sure, things will be light-hearted, but you can bet the trio will want some serious revenge after Irving is done with them.
