Lonzo Ball has not played since Jan. 13, and it sounds like it may still be another couple of weeks before he makes his return to the court.
Tania Ganguli of the Los Angeles Times reported on Tuesday that the Lakers may hold out the star rookie until he’s “virtually pain-free.” Ganguli also notes that there is a “distinct possibility” Ball sits out until after the All-Star break.
Sounds like Lakers are not going to let Lonzo play until he’s virtually pain free. He’s been working to the point of pain and when he feels it, they have him do something else that doesn’t hurt. As I wrote yesterday, there’s a distinct possibility he’s out until post All Star.

Ball, who is averaging 10.2 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 7.1 assists per game this season, is currently dealing with an MCL sprain in his left knee. Meanwhile, the Lakers have gone a respectable 6-4 in Ball’s absence. But with a playoff berth still looking all but impossible, it definitely makes sense for them to err on the side of caution with their prized youngster.
In the meantime, perhaps the former UCLA Bruins star can focus on producing more quality content on social media as he continues to recover.
