The Spurs can thank Pelicans big man Omer Asik for an assistant in San Antonio’s 95-93 overtime win over New Orleans on Wednesday.
The Spurs had the ball down by two with 0.7 seconds left and ran an in-bounds play from the sidelines. They threw it down low for Tim Duncan, who was battling with Asik for position. Both players got their hands up and it seemed like a group effort resulted in the ball being tipped in.
I wouldn’t say Asik completely tipped in the ball on his own because he and Duncan were pushing the ball in the same direction, but that was some poor luck considering he was just trying to deflect the pass.
If it’s any consolation for Asik, at least that wasn’t as bad as what happened to Florida on Tuesday.
