Timberwolves given permission to interview Clippers GM Michael Winger
The Minnesota Timberwolves are getting to work on their search for a new franchise leader and will be interviewing LA Clippers GM Michael Winger.
The Timberwolves were granted permission by the Clippers to interview Winger for a position overseeing basketball operations, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Minnesota owner Glen Taylor has targeted a short list of potential candidates to oversee the Timberwolves operations — with Winger emerging among them, league sources tell ESPN. https://t.co/TE5wWFvRLK

Winger joined the Clippers two years ago after working under Sam Presti in Oklahoma City. He has helped turned the franchise into one of the best stories in the league this season. The Clippers have made the playoffs and are tied 1-1 with the Golden State Warriors in their first round series, all in a season where they were expected to be rebuilding. The team’s acquisitions of Ivica Zubac and Landry Shamet and the draft pick of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander have all proven to be shrewd moves.
The Timberwolves are looking for new leadership after getting rid of Tom Thibodeau.
