Boxing champ Jermall Charlo arrested for alleged felony assault
Boxing star and WBC middleweight champion Jermall Charlo was arrested in Texas on Friday, marking his second arrest in the past calendar year.
TMZ Sports reports that Charlo was arrested shortly after the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office had issued a warrant. He was booked and charged with the felony of assaulting a family/household member with a previous conviction.
The incident allegedly occurred on September 5, 2021.
Here is more from TMZ Sports:
According to court documents, obtained by TMZ Sports, Charlo’s arrest stems from an alleged September 5, 2021 incident in which he’s accused of “punching or grabbing” a man.
Officials in the docs say the man was injured in the alleged altercation. They also say the man was a member of Charlo’s “family or household.”
Although the 31-year-old had his bond set at just $10,000, records show he remains in custody.
Charlo had also been taken into custody in August of last year after being accused of stealing from a bar waitress. The case was dismissed in early February citing “insufficient evidence.”
