Tom Hanks issued a statement over Twitter Thursday to update his fans on his status.
Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson announced Wednesday that the two tested positive for coronavirus after feeling ill while in Australia.
In his latest note, Hanks shared a photo of the two together and added this statement:
“Hello folks. Rita Wilson and I want to thank everyone here Down Under who are taking such good care of us. We have Covid-19 and are in isolation so we do not spread it to anyone else. There are those for whom it could lead to a very serious illness. We are taking it one-day-at-a-time. There are things we can all do to get through this by following the advice of experts and taking care of ourselves and each other, no? Remember, despite all the current events, there is no crying in baseball. Hanx”

Man, Hanks ended the statement with the classic line from “A League of Their Own” is tremendous. He has starred in numerous great movies, and his role as Jimmy Dugan stands up with any of them.

The halftime performance that Jennifer Lopez and Shakira headlined at Super Bowl LIV earlier this month received some backlash from people who thought it was a bit too promiscuous, and hundreds of those people were so bothered by it that they filed formal complaints.
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) received more than 1,300 complaints from viewers who felt the halftime show was inappropriate, according to records obtained by WFAA’s Ryan Wood. The complaints cited issues involving “extreme booty shaking” and content that “would have been considered soft porn not many years ago.”
“I do not subscribe to The Playboy Channel, we do not buy porn for $20 a flick, we simply wanted to sit down as a family and watch the Super Bowl,” one viewer from Tennessee wrote. “God forbid we expected to watch football and a quick concert but instead had our eyes molested.”
Some people were upset that no public warnings were given before the show, believing it encouraged sex trafficking and other illegal activity.
Of course, there were millions of other people who enjoyed the performance, and J-Lo’s husband Alex Rodriguez was one of them. Some were put off by the outfits Lopez and Shakiri wore, which could have been considered a bit revealing. Shakira also wagged her tongue at one point during the performance.
J-Lo described the backlash as “silliness” when discussing it at an award show the week after the Super Bowl.
“Both of us are really respectful performers who are moms and have kids and are very conscious of what we do,” Lopez said. “We did a show that I believe was a celebration of women and our Latino culture that I think was really well received.”
While more than 1,300 complaints may sound like a lot, that number is nothing compared to the more than 500,000 FCC complaints that were filed following Janet Jackson’s infamous wardrobe malfunction years ago.
Clint Eastwood can still hit a golf ball and take part in the making of a Hollywood film, but the gritty legend may finally be showing a few signs of age.
As usual, Eastwood made himself very visible at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am this year. Eastwood is from the San Francisco area and is an investor in the Pebble Beach Golf Links, so his attendance at the event has been a given throughout the years. During the final round of play on Sunday, Eastwood joined Jim Nantz and Nick Faldo for an interview during the CBS broadcast. Viewers quickly noticed that the 89-year-old seemed a bit distant.

Eastwood was lucid for the majority of the interview, though Nantz and Faldo did try to make light of him giving one-word answers at one point. Of course, we’re talking about a guy who will turn 90 in a few months.
While we all like to think of Eastwood from his Western film days or telling some kid to “get off my lawn,” he’s getting up there in age. The fact that he is almost 90 and is even able to still work and make public appearances is remarkable.

Rob Lowe went viral on Sunday for his choice of hat at the NFC Championship Game in Santa Clara.
The actor attended the game and was shown on TV as FOX promoted the TV show “9-1-1: Lone Star”. Many noticed that rather than wear a hat representing a specific team — like say the 49ers or Packers — Lowe had one that showed the NFL shield on it.

The actor’s hat led to plenty of jokes on Twitter.
Is Rob Lowe just rocking a generic NFL shield hat?

Rob Lowe wearing an NFL hat in the crowd. Not a team. Just the NFL logo. Big fan of the league overall. Great stuff.

Lowe took note and commented on his hat becoming the top story of the blowout game.
I didn’t expect my hat to be the most interesting part of this game! https://t.co/F54cTppe7C

Come on, Rob. You’re wearing an NFL shield logo on your hat. Who does that?? His career as an NFL referee is going about as well as his career as an NFL reporter.

Adam Sandler is a confirmed baller.
Sandler was in Atlanta this week promoting his new movie “Uncut Gems”, which also stars Kevin Garnett. Sandler is known for his love of basketball and frequently seen sitting courtside at various NBA games. He also loves to play and will often join random pickup games to get some run.
On Thursday, Sandler went to an LA Fitness in Atlanta and played in a pickup game. We put together this great highlight video of him balling out. Sandler drained a bucket, made a reverse layup, and dished some sick passes. Take a look:
Later in the evening after balling out at LA Fitness, Sandler joined “Inside the NBA” on TNT after the Houston Rockets-LA Clippers game to promote “Uncut Gems.” Garnett has made some headlines for what he’s said in interviews. Sandler has been receiving Oscar buzz for his role in the movie.
Also, Sandler’s baggy ’90s style clothing has been receiving plenty of attention. If the clothes help him play that well, we have to leave him alone about it.

LeBron James has faced plenty of backlash since he made disappointing remarks about the NBA’s situation with China earlier in the week, and you knew it wouldn’t be long before “South Park” got in on the act.
The latest episode of “South Park,” which aired on Wednesday night,” took aim at LeBron for being afraid to support freedom of speech when his bank account could be directly impacted. As Deadline pointed out, the episode was about the plant-based food craze where substitutes are replacing meat. Cartman confronted students who were protesting in favor of the movement at South Park Elementary, and it’s clear his message was a shot at LeBron from the writers.

This isn’t the first time “South Park” has addressed the ongoings in China. In an episode earlier this month, the show took aim at Hollywood studios for allowing Chinese censorship to impact the content they are producing. One of the characters in the show shouted “F— the Chinese government” during a recent episode, and creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone issued a mock apology that ridiculed the NBA.
“Like the NBA, we welcome Chinese censors into our homes and into our hearts. We too love money more than freedom and democracy,” the apology statement said.
In his first public comments about the China situation, LeBron said he believed Houston Rockets GM Daryl Morey should have thought about the impact his tweet of support for Hong Kong protestors would have on others — i.e. LeBron and other NBA stars. He has since tried to backtrack, but several prominent people inside and outside the NBA community have criticized LeBron for his hypocritical stance.

Jennifer Lopez and Shakira have been announced as the performers for this season’s Super Bowl Halftime Show.
The 2020 Super Bowl will take place on February 2 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. The NFL, Pepsi and Roc Nation announced Thursday that J. Lo and Shakira would be performing. The announcement came through Jay-Z’s company, Roc Nation, which recently partnered with the NFL to help provide music selections for their events. Roc Nation is co-producing the show.
“These two remarkable artists are setting a new precedent for what this show can become, and we’re confident that this will be an incredible performance for the ages,” Pepsi Vice President of Marketing Todd Kaplan said in a statement.
J. Lo is engaged to Alex Rodriguez, so the only way to make the show complete would be a cameo from the former MLB player.
