Tre Jones sent Saturday’s Duke-North Carolina game into overtime with a great play.
Jones went to the free throw line with four seconds left and his team down 84-81. Jones made the first free throw, but then he missed the second intentionally to give his team a shot at a tie. He could not have executed the second part any better.
Jones missed the second free throw off the front of the rim, got the rebound, and made a jumper to tie the game.

The degree of difficulty for that kind of play is extremely high. Making a game-tying shot is hard enough. Missing a free throw intentionally in that fashion only to get the ball back just makes it doubly difficult.
What a play. And what a meltdown by Carolina, which led by 13 with under five minutes left; 10 with 2:06 left; and 7 with 1:11 left.
