Nick Saban’s decision to retire as head coach at Alabama sent shockwaves through the college football world, and had some rushing to Wikipedia for some fun.

Oregon coach Dan Lanning was quickly the focus of some fans and media members, as he has previous connections to Alabama and has been a huge success with the Ducks. Just minutes after news leaked of Saban’s retirement, Lanning’s Wikipedia page had been edited to list him as the new Crimson Tide head coach.

To be clear, there is absolutely no evidence Lanning is going to Alabama or has even thought about the job. Perhaps he will be a target, but nothing has happened yet. Subsequently, his Wikipedia page was quickly reverted back to its usual state.

Using Wikipedia as a means to send some light-hearted messages is nothing new among sports fans. In this case, it might be an Alabama fan trying to manifest something. After all, there is at least some reason to think it could happen.
