Everyone said the same thing after horrific weekend for SEC

Six SEC powerhouses ranked in the top 15 entered Saturday looking to boost their standing in the College Football Playoff race. Half of them fell flat on their faces.

With huge postseason implications on the line, No. 7 Alabama, No. 9 Ole Miss, and No. 15 Texas A&M all lost as heavy favorites.

Alabama mustered just a field goal in its 24-3 loss to Oklahoma, which had spectators clowning Crimson Tide quarterback Jalen Milroe. Ole Miss got literally and figuratively dunked on by Florida in a 24-17 affair. Texas A&M clawed its way back from a 21-0 hole, only to lose 43-41 on a brutal drop in quadruple overtime.

Alabama, Ole Miss, and Texas A&M all came into Saturday with 8-2 records. Oklahoma, Florida, and Auburn had a combined 14-16 record before their string of upsets.

Some fans on X called out the SEC’s media machine for hyping up the conference, only for several of its top teams to falter during a critical point in the season.

Before Saturday, the SEC looked poised to have the most number of representatives in the first-ever 12-team College Football Playoff. But following the trio of letdowns from Alabama, Ole Miss, and Texas A&M, that may no longer be the case.
