LSU is the underdog heading into their matchup with Alabama on Saturday, but don’t tell Leonard Fournette.
Fournette, the team’s star running back, called a players-only meeting on Thursday ahead of the big game.
While all involved were tight-lipped, interim coach Ed Orgeron said Fournette, offensive lineman Ethan Pocic, and safety Jamal Adams led the meeting.
“I know what was said,” Orgeron said, via Shea Dixon of 247 Sports. “Deep down in my heart, I know what was said. By the time I walked in, I know it was good. I know the guys that led it, and I trust them. I think it’s all good.
“Those things are great for team bonding. Doesn’t mean you win or you’re going to play better. But every once in a while, if they feel like they need to have a meeting, I like it. Leadership comes forward.”
This doesn’t change the fact that Alabama is favored to win the game, and LSU will need some plays like this if they want to pull the upset. It sounds, however, like the team is all pulling in the same direction.
