Top NFL prospects sitting out their bowl games with their respective schools has become an increasingly popular trend in recent seasons, but LSU’s Devin White is not going to leave his teammates hanging when they play their final game of the season.
With several players already saying they will not take part in bowl games to protect their NFL futures, White took to Twitter on Monday to confirm he will play in the Fiesta Bowl against UCF on New Year’s Day.
Goodmorning Tiger Nation, To Clear Up The Rumors, I Will Be Playing In The 2019 @Fiesta_Bowl With My Brothers, Alot Of Business To Handle. God Bless #FinishStrong #GeauxTigers #GetLive40

White, a junior, leads LSU with twelve tackles for loss this year after record 13.5 a season ago. He also has 7.5 sacks over the past two seasons and is considered one of the better cover linebackers in the country, which is a big part of the reason he could go early in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft.
Prominent athletes like Leonard Fournette and Christian McCaffrey have made foregoing bowl games more common, and some star college players have announced they will do the same this year. White’s teammates must appreciate the risk he is taking to close out his collegiate career in the Fiesta Bowl.
