The status of Urban Meyer will have a big impact on college football, and it’s already having an impact on the Ohio State Buckeyes.
One top wide receiver recruit who is considering the Buckeyes announced on Thursday that he is delaying his commitment date and reopening his recruitment.
Here is the note shared by Marcus Washington, a four-star recruit from Saint Louis, Missouri:
Due to everything happening in college football right now my family & I have decided it’s best I delay my commitment date and reopen my recruitment fully….

Washington received offers from several major schools. He had narrowed down his finalists to Oregon, Texas, Florida State, Georgia, Ohio State and Missouri. Missouri and Ohio State were listed by 247 Sports as his two most likely schools, but that could be changing.
Washington was previously scheduled to announce his commitment decision on Aug. 7. Committing to Ohio State while Urban Meyer is investigated and on leave would be risky.
