Interesting report surfaces about Aaron Rodgers’ injuries
Aaron Rodgers has not played well in his first real season as the New York Jets’ starting quarterback, and a new report raises the question of whether injuries have been a significant factor in that.
Rodgers has been on the injury report at different times throughout the year with hamstring, knee and ankle issues. He has not missed any game action. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, Rodgers has not allowed doctors to determine the full extent of those injuries.
Rodgers has reportedly resisted having scans and tests because he does not want to risk being told he needs to sit. Rapoport notes that the hamstring injury Rodgers suffered on Sept. 29 was believed to be “particularly significant,” but the 40-year-old assured everyone it was not an issue.
Mobility was once Rodgers’ greatest asset, but that has not been the case this season. That was expected after he tore his Achilles in Week 1 last year, but it sounds like other injuries have limited him as well. One opposing player even said earlier this season that he was surprised by how slow Rodgers looked, and the former MVP indicated that injuries played a role in that.
Rodgers has thrown for 2,442 yards with 17 touchdowns and 7 interceptions on the season. The Jets are 3-8 and have a bye in Week 12. They have already fired their head coach and general manager, and rumors are swirling that Rodgers could be next.
