Alvin Kamara won’t play in Week 7 with ankle injury

The New Orleans Saints have managed to keep winning games despite Drew Brees being out with a thumb injury, but they will be facing another challenge on Sunday when they are without arguably their most dynamic playmaker.

Saints running back Alvin Kamara has been battling an ankle injury, and the team has officially ruled him out for Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears. Starting tight end Jared Cook will also miss the contest, as he is dealing with an ankle injury as well.

Kamara’s injury appears to be a high-ankle sprain, which typically requires a multi-week recovery. Saquon Barkley suffered the same injury earlier in the year and has missed several games despite seeming like he was way ahead of schedule in his rehab.

Kamara has missed just one game in his NFL career. The former third-round pick leads the New Orleans backfield this year with 373 yards rushing and has also added 276 receiving yards. He has two touchdowns after scoring 18 a year ago.

Teddy Bridgewater has done enough to lead the Saints to four consecutive wins, but Sunday in Chicago may be his toughest test with Kamara sidelined.
