The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had the most productive wide receiver tandem in football heading into last week’s game, but injuries have taken that away from them.
Mike Evans suffered a hamstring injury during last week’s win over the Indianapolis Colts, and Chris Godwin went down during Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions. Godwin’s injury looked eerily similar to the one Evans sustained, as he also pulled up lame and grabbed the back of his leg. He limped off the field under his own power but was carted to the locker room.
Godwin had five catches for 121 yards before leaving Sunday’s game. He has been having a phenomenal season, as he entered the game with 81 receptions for 1,212 yards and nine touchdowns. While Jameis Winston’s play has been erratic all year, new head coach Bruce Arians has opened things up and created plenty of opportunities for both Evans and Godwin.
Evans is expected to miss the remainder of the season, so hopefully Godwin’s injury is less serious. However, soft tissue injuries like the one Godwin appeared to suffer can linger for a while.
