Report: Cowboys ‘seriously in play’ for Jamal Adams trade
Jamal Adams wants a contract extension from the New York Jets and is said to be growing impatient. With rumors swirling that the Pro Bowl safety could be traded this offseason, the Dallas Cowboys continue to look like the most likely suitor.
NFL reporter Gary Myers said Thursday that the Jets are in a contract stalemate with Adams that has caused friction and made a trade “very possible.” The same source told Myers on Friday that the Cowboys are “seriously in play” for Adams and have been made aware of New York’s asking price.
The latest just now from my Jamal Adams source: "The Cowboys are seriously in play now that they confirmed the Jets want 1st and 3rd round picks for Adams."

That is only one report, of course. SNY’s Ralph Vacchiano cited a source on Friday who said the Jets have no intention of trading Adams and still expect to sign him to a long-term extension.
Unless they are blown away by an offer, the Jets don’t have any real reason to trade Adams. He’s still signed for two more seasons and could be franchise tagged after that, though he clearly wants to avoid getting anywhere close to the point where New York would have to make that decision.
While a first-round pick and third-round pick would be a nice compensation package, Adams is just 24 and has made the Pro Bowl each of the last two seasons. The reports about him potentially being traded are probably being leaked by his camp in an attempt to put pressure on the Jets, though the team has indicated moving Adams is not out of the question.
