The Las Vegas Raiders completed a trade on Tuesday to send Davante Adams to the New York Jets, and some interesting details about the deal have surfaced.

Adams was traded to the Jets in exchange for a conditional third-round draft pick that could become a second-round pick based on the star wide receiver’s performance. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the pick would become a second-rounder if Adams were to be named a First- or Second-team All-Pro. Another way the Jets would receive a second-round pick is if they were to reach the AFC Championship Game or Super Bowl with Adams on their active roster.

Trade condition update: The conditional third-round pick the Jets are trading to the Raiders for Davante Adams becomes a second if any of the following happen, per source:

The Raiders were said to be seeking a second-round pick plus additional compensation for Adams, so it sounds like they had to lower their asking price a bit. They may have been willing to do that for financial reasons.

Schefter also reports that the Jets are inheriting the remainder of Adams’ contract, which was a sticking point for Las Vegas in negotiations with teams.

Raiders are not paying any of Davante Adams’ remaining salary, per source. The Jets are assuming the balance of it.

Adams’ base salary for this season is $16.89 million. New York will have to pay the pro-rated remainder of that. The 31-year-old is also under contract for $36.25 million in 2025 and 2026.

The Jets fell to 2-4 with their loss to the Buffalo Bills on Monday night. Their decision to acquire Adams shows that they still believe they can contend for the postseason, however.

It became clear during the offseason that Aaron Rodgers was pushing for a reunion with Adams, and the two former Green Bay Packers teammates have officially gotten their wish.
