Donald Penn got into a verbal altercation with a fan after the Oakland Raiders’ loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, and the offensive lineman claims the fan had planned in advance to engage Penn in a confrontation.
On his Twitter account Monday, Penn shared some screenshots that he says prove the fan’s goal was to have a player punch him so he could sue and try to make money.
To all athletes out there be aware of fake fans tryna extort you I'm glad I didn't punch dude like I wanted 2 he had this all planned out pic.twitter.com/A2gAXLNk04

Penn’s wife Dominique wrote similar things on her own Twitter account and defended her husband.

The video, which contains some explicit language, showed Penn stopping to get out of his Rolls Royce after he claims the fan threw a bottle at his car. The fan immediately removed his hat to challenge Penn before security stepped in.
Unfortunately, we have seen more altercations between players and fans as social media has grown in popularity. Terrelle Pryor made headlines last week when he was shown flipping off a fan, but the Washington wide receiver says the fan antagonized him by using racial slurs.
