Former Packer blames front office for team’s struggles

Former Green Bay Packer Damarious Randall thinks his former team erred in firing coach Mike McCarthy and should be casting the blame elsewhere.

Randall, now with the Cleveland Browns, believes the Packers’ front office let too many good players leave and relied too much on Aaron Rodgers to keep them relevant.

“They traded away all their good players and they expect Aaron Rodgers to just be magical,” Randall said, via Mary Kay Cabot of cleveland.com. “The magic hasn’t been so magical lately. But other than that, I don’t know.”

Randall may have a point. Most of the big names in the Green Bay offense other than Rodgers, including favorite target Jordy Nelson, have all moved on and haven’t adequately been replaced. That’s not really all McCarthy’s fault.

Of course, there has been some speculation that McCarthy may land in Cleveland, which another former Packer now with the Browns would like. Based on his positive assessment of McCarthy, Randall may agree.
