Joe Burrow continues to think outside the box when it comes to presents for his offensive line.
The Cincinnati Bengals quarterback turned heads last December when he gifted his O-linemen authentic Japanese Katana swords. The ancient weapons drew rave reviews from his teammates.
Burrow went even further back in history with his latest gift idea, per ESPN’s Ben Baby. On Monday, Burrow invited the Bengals’ O-line to his Cincinnati home and unveiled his latest Christmas offering: authentic dinosaur, bear, and mammoth fossils. Players were reportedly able to pick their fossil in order of when they arrived at the Burrow residence.
Bengals center Ted Karras chose the tusk of a woolly mammoth, while offensive tackles Orlando Brown Jr. and Amarius Mims opted for matching cave bear skulls. Rookie left guard Dylan Fairchild got himself a Tyrannosaurus rex artifact that would turn “Jurassic Park” fans green with envy.
“I think it speaks to his intelligence and interests and his desire to do something unique,” Karras said via ESPN. “I thought it was really special.”
Burrow made his love for fossils known during his appearance on the latest season of Netflix’s “Quarterback” show. The Pro Bowl QB admitted on the series that fossils were always on his mind.
While quarterbacks buying their offensive line gifts for Christmas has become commonplace, Burrow has next to no competition when it comes to gift creativity. Burrow has come a long way from his more conventional gift to his O-linemen three years ago.
