Joe Flacco to sign one-year deal with Jets
After a year in Denver, Joe Flacco is headed back to the east coast.
As first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Flacco will sign a one-year deal with the New York Jets, where he will serve as backup quarterback to Sam Darnold.
Jets are signing former Super Bowl MVP Joe Flacco to a one-year deal, sources tell ESPN. Jets GM Joe Douglas was a Ravens’ scout in 2008, when Baltimore drafted Flacco in round one. Now Flacco will rejoin Douglas, and compete for the backup job when he’s healthy and ready.

Joe Flacco’s 1-year deal with the Jets is worth $1.5 million that with incentives can bring it to $4.5 million, per source. https://t.co/VDrmdz4yfM

Flacco is coming off a year that saw him go 2-6 in eight starts with the Denver Broncos. A neck injury prematurely ended his season and forced him to have offseason surgery.
The 35-year-old is certainly past his prime, throwing a modest six touchdowns to five interceptions with Denver last year. As long as Darnold stays healthy and productive, Flacco won’t see much of the field for the Jets, but he’s a solid veteran backup at this point.
