Kirk Cousins says he is out of the apology business now that he has the Minnesota Vikings’ passing game back on track.
Cousins apologized to teammate Adam Thielen after a poor game in a Week 4 loss to the Chicago Bears. The apology was prompted by Thielen, who had just two catches in the game, saying Cousins had to be able to throw the ball better.
“I really want to apologize to [Thielen] because there’s too many opportunities where we could have hit him on Sunday,” Cousins said on KFAN on October 1. “Postgame when I talk to the media I always say, ‘Hey, until I watch the film, it’s hard for me to really give you a straight answer.’ Well, now it’s Tuesday night. I’ve watched the film and the reality is there were opportunities for [Thielen].
“The one that’s most obvious is the third-and-10 at the beginning of the game. We’re near midfield. That’s arguably seven points. If you put the ball where it needs to be, he’s shown … that he will make that play and he’ll probably finish the play in the end zone and pull away from the defender.”
Cousins responded by throwing two touchdown passes to Thielen in Week 5 and another in Week 6 — both coming in big Vikings wins.
In Sunday’s 38-20 win over the Philadelphia Eagles, Cousins found Stefon Diggs 7 times for 167 yards and three touchdowns. He joked after the game that he missed Diggs on one route and thought about apologizing like he did with Thielen, but he’s done with apologies now.
Kirk Cousins with a crack about the controversy over his Thielen apology: "We missed Diggsy on that post at the end of the [first] half. I thought about apologizing to him, but apparently that's not the way to go around here. I guess my days of apologizing to people are over."

If Cousins keeps playing like he has the last two weeks, no more apologies will be necessary at all. Minnesota is 4-2 and looks good!
