Marqise Lee released by Jaguars
The Jacksonville Jaguars are rebuilding their roster in several areas, and Marqise Lee is the latest veteran player they have decided to move on from.
Lee has been informed he will be released by the Jaguars, Ian Rapoport of NFL Media first reported. The team later confirmed the news.
Lee missed all of 2018 after suffering a significant knee injury during the preseason, and he caught just three passes in six games last year. However, the 28-year-old was previously one of Jacksonville’s most productive receivers, and he signed a 4-year, $38 million contract with the Jags following a 56-catch season in 2017.
The Jaguars now have a deep receiving corps with DJ Chark, Dede Westbrook and Keelan Cole, so it made little sense to keep paying Lee. The former USC star could be a value pickup for some team this offseason.
