Russell Wilson has been benched by the Denver Broncos entering Week 17 as the team takes its first step towards moving on without the veteran quarterback next season.

The Broncos will likely cut Wilson during the offseason and absorb the massive salary cap hit in 2024 (and/or 2025, depending on what they choose). Either way, Wilson will likely be playing for a new team next season.

On Thursday, Sportsbetting.ag sent out a list of teams they favor to land Wilson for 2024. Several teams have reasonable odds to have Wilson on their roster. The team with the lowest odds are the Minnesota Vikings at 5-1.

Here is the list:

Vikings 5/1
Patriots 6/1
Commanders 7/1
Raiders 7/1
Bears 8/1
Falcons 8/1
Giants 8/1
Steelers 8/1
Bucs 10/1
Cardinals 10/1
Saints 11/1

The Vikings are an interesting team because they have Kirk Cousins. Cousins is recovering from a torn Achilles tendon he suffered earlier this season. His contract status with the Vikings is unresolved, but at least one of his teammates really wants him back.

The Patriots also have good odds to get Wilson. But they are also expected to receive a high draft pick for 2024, which they could use on a young quarterback. It’s hard to see what benefit Wilson would be for a rebuilding team.

The teams on that list that might make the most sense are the Raiders and Steelers, and that’s because they have good defenses and could benefit from improved play at the quarterback position. But if Wilson were still the type of quarterback who could take a team to the playoffs without much of an issue, then the Broncos wouldn’t be getting rid of him. In other words, he’s not a great long-term answer at quarterback anymore.
