Nick Bosa says Baker Mayfield shied away from trash talk
Nick Bosa and the San Francisco 49ers’ defense dominated Baker Mayfield and the Cleveland Browns’ offense on Monday night. The domination was so thorough that Bosa was left disappointed by the lack of trash talk from Mayfield.
Bosa made headlines for incredibly trolling Mayfield with a mock flag plant that mimicked what the former Oklahoma quarterback did after beating Bosa’s Buckeyes at Ohio State in 2017.
After the Niners’ Monday night win, Bosa said the brash quarterback “had it coming.” Bosa also expressed disappointment about the lack of trash talk from the QB.
Bosa, on talking trash to Mayfield all game: “He had it coming. But he didn't say one word back. … I was just screaming his name, like, ‘Baaaaaker! Baaaaker! You good? C'mon, pick it up — we want a challenge…’”

Mayfield seems like a guy who’s at his best when he’s fired up and has a chip on his shoulder. If he’s not even talking trash, that’s a really bad sign. But Mayfield seems timid behind his poor offensive line, and that is likely a big explanation for the Browns’ struggles this season.
