Patrick Mahomes has been practicing this week and trending toward returning to action after just a two-game absence, and Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid made it official on Friday.
Reid told reporters that Mahomes will start against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday “unless something changes.”

Mahomes dislocated his knee in a Thursday night win over the Denver Broncos in Week 7. He then missed Kansas City’s Week 8 and Week 9 games, both of which Matt More started. The Chiefs defeated the Minnesota Vikings and lost to the Green Bay Packers.
Given how serious Mahomes’ knee injury looked when it happened, the fact that he is going to end up missing just two games is remarkable. The Chiefs have a bye in Week 12, so some initially thought it would make sense to hold Mahomes out through then. It’s a great sign that he is returning already.
