The Seattle Seahawks are ensuring that their leadership group remains intact for the next few years.
Two days after locking up GM John Schneider on a five-year deal, the Seahawks reached agreement with head coach Pete Carroll on a new contract. Carroll’s current deal was set to run out after the season, but he is signed through 2019 now with his new contract.
Though Carroll’s vibrant behavior would suggest otherwise, the Super Bowl-winning coach is 64 and the oldest coach in the league. He will be 67 in the last year of his deal.
A report two weeks ago said there was some urgency to get the deals done for both Schneider and Carroll prior to training camp, and the team has delivered on both. When yo have such talent a those key positions, you have to pay to keep them.
