Potential Aaron Hernandez juror dismissed for yelling ‘go Pats!’

Jury selection for the Aaron Hernandez murder trial began on Friday, and one potential juror has already figured out one of the quickest ways to be sent home.

According to NECN’s Kathryn Sotnik, one potential juror was dismissed after he showed up for jury duty wearing a Boston Bruins jersey and screamed “go Pats!” No sports gear of any kind is permitted at the trial.

Given the high-profile nature of the case and the timing of the jury selection (the Patriots begin their road to the Super Bowl on Saturday), finding an impartial collection of jurors for a case like this is incredibly difficult.

A judge recently ruled that any Patriots gear or clothing bearing a logo of any other NFL team will not be allowed inside the courthouse during Hernandez’s trial. After seeing some of the people who showed up at Hernandez’s arraignment several months ago, it’s safe to assume the “go Pats!” juror won’t be the only person who is told to hit the road.
