Just when it seemed like all the momentum was leaning toward the Raiders making a move to Las Vegas, we are now starting to get some signs that they could end up staying in Oakland.
According to a report from KGO, the Oakland City Council and the Alameda County Board of Supervisors is expected to meet in the near future to consider the offer to buy the land on which the Coliseum sits. The group proposing the offer is headed by NFL Hall of Famer and Raiders legend Ronnie Lott. A vote could reportedly come as early as Tuesday.
Lott and his backers were said to have pulled their $167.3 million offer roughly two months ago, but obviously enough progress has been made that the sides are still discussing the deal.
With the Raiders currently trying to work out details of a potential move to Las Vegas, the NFL reportedly wants the team to remain in California. Raiders owner Mark Davis appears to prefer Las Vegas, but the league wants to find a way to ensure that the team gets a new stadium in California.
We know there are plenty of fans in Oakland who would not be happy about losing the Raiders, and we were reminded of that when this banner flew over a recent game.
