The Los Angeles Rams were interested in trading for Odell Beckham Jr. before they acquired Brandin Cooks on Tuesday, but they never really got close to reaching an agreement with the New York Giants.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the combination of draft compensation the Giants wanted along with future salary the Rams would have had to pay Beckham was simply too steep.
The #Rams were interested in Odell Beckham, but the combination of likely trade compensation and future extension made the price exorbitant. There were never serious negotiations. Meanwhile, the #Patriots have had no talks about trading Rob Gronkowski & expect to keep him.

Like Beckham, Cooks is also entering the final year of his rookie contract. While Cooks will expect to be paid like a No. 1 receiver after 2018, it will probably take slightly less to extend him than it would have with Beckham. Plus, the Giants were reportedly asking for a lot more for Beckham than the Rams had to give up for Cooks.
With the Rams now out of the picture, the likelihood of New York trading Beckham seems even lower. Some have wondered if the Patriots could look to use their new draft capital to swing a deal for Beckham, but it does not sound like that is going to happen, either.
