Report: Roger Goodell likely to review Ezekiel Elliott Las Vegas incident

Ezekiel Elliott

The NFL will likely review the Ezekiel Elliott Las Vegas incident from last weekend for a potential violation under the league’s Personal Conduct Policy, according to a report.

Elliott was captured on video bumping a security guard to the ground during a music festival in Las Vegas early Sunday morning on May 20. Elliott was handcuffed and briefly detained by Las Vegas police. The staffer declined to press charges.

Yahoo’s Charles Robinson says the NFL will likely review the video before training camp.

Even though the Dallas Cowboys running back was not charged with a crime, the NFL’s Collective Bargaining Agreement gives the commissioner power to discipline players for unbecoming conduct under the Personal Conduct Policy, which has a lower standard for enforcing discipline than the legal system.

Elliott was suspended the first six games in 2017 under the policy for allegations of domestic violence against his girlfriend. Even though no charges were filed by police in the matter, the league found credible evidence and cited that in their decision to suspend him.

Elliott is already on alert with the league due to that suspension and the St. Patrick’s Day parade incident in 2017 where he exposed a woman’s breast. The league had warned Elliott in 2017 that he could face potential banishment from the league over his behavior.
