Russell Wilson has been benched by the Denver Broncos heading into Week 17, and the veteran quarterback is not exactly hiding his feelings about the situation.

Wilson was active on social media after news surfaced on Wednesday that the Broncos are benching him for Jarrett Stidham. He “liked” a few posts on X that highlighted how he is playing better than some of the NFL’s best quarterbacks from a statistical standpoint, including Patrick Mahomes.

Wilson also “liked” some posts that were related to the report that the Broncos threatened to bench him back in October if he did not agree to defer some of the injury guarantees in his contract. It is safe to assume that report is accurate since Wilson essentially highlighted it.

Wilson then shared an uplifting message:

“God’s got me. Looking forward to what’s next,” Wilson wrote.

Broncos head coach Sean Payton claims he is making a quarterback change to give the team its best chance of winning. Most people believe the move was financially motivated.

Denver may have plans to cut Wilson after the season. They may decide to take a big financial hit in 2024 in order to be free of any financial obligations to the quarterback in 2025.

Whatever the case, Wilson clearly feels he has played well enough to keep his job.
