Tom Brady had a very fitting response to Argentina’s epic comeback in the Round of 16 at the FIFA World Cup on Tuesday.
Argentina trailed Egypt 2-0 with 11 minutes to go in Tuesday’s World Cup match at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Ga. Despite the deficit, they came up with three goals in short order to execute a stunning comeback. The win sent Argentina to the quarterfinals and keeps their hopes of repeating as World Cup winners alive.
Brady was certainly watching, and he likened Argentina’s comeback to the New England Patriots’ famous rally against the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl LI.
“Yeah so that might top 28-3,” Brady wrote.
Yeah so that might top 28-3 🤯

The parallels probably were not lost on Brady.
Tuesday’s World Cup game was played at the Falcons’ home stadium, and Egypt, the team that blew the lead, was wearing red, much like the Falcons were during the Super Bowl. Plus, Lionel Messi may well occupy the GOAT role that Brady did in that game. For those who have forgotten, the Patriots were trailing 28-3 in the third quarter of the Super Bowl. They rallied for four touchdowns and a field goal to win the game 34-28.
No matter what Brady thinks about how these two comebacks compare, do not expect him to ever stop giving the Falcons a hard time over it. Tuesday’s events probably just served as an unpleasant reminder.
