Angela Rypien and Gio Gonzalez may be dating
Washington D.C. may have a pretty exciting sports couple on its hands. It looks like Angela Rypien and Nationals pitcher Gio Gonzalez might be dating.
Angela, a quarterback for the Lingerie Football League’s Baltimore Charm and the daughter of former Super Bowl MVP Mark Rypien, dropped the first hint about a possible relationship when she tweeted on Aug. 31 that she was attending her first Nationals game ever.
My first #MLB game EVER :) Go #Nats@ Nationals Park instagr.am/p/PA1QZBv94x/

Sounds like a perfectly fun time, right? We didn’t think anything of that tweet until Sunday night when Rypien sent out another Nats-related tweet:
Hello @mlb!! Watching the @nationals game.. I have my eyes on someone specific ;) Let’s go #Nats

Hmm, so now we had a smiley face with a wink added to the tweet, and an admission that she was watching someone specific. And of course there was one common thread for both games — Gio Gonzalez pitched both of them. We pieced the two items together and decided to ask Angela about it over Twitter, and she didn’t exactly shoot it down:
@lbsports Great observation ;)

So there’s that. If the two are indeed dating, it seems all too perfect. Back in June, Gonzalez tweeted that he needed a date for a Nationals gala. Last month, Rypien put out an application on Twitter for guys to apply to be her date to her family reunion at the end of September. That could be how the two got together (our friend @RecordsAndRadio even suggested to Angela that she take Gio).
We could be reaching here, but then you factor in that they’re following each other on Twitter, and that Gio appears to be the only Nationals player Angela’s following, and everything seems to add up.
We don’t want to jinx anything in what seems to be a budding relationship, but we will say that they look like they would make a great couple.
