Nashville Predators defenseman Shea Weber has one of the hardest slapshots in the NHL. Ottawa Senators defenseman Cody Ceci found that out in the worst way possible on Monday night.
Ceci and the Senators were trying to kill off a Nashville power play when Weber fired the puck toward the net. It caught Ceci in the side of the head and deflected off like it had just hit the goal post. He was left with a nasty gash and did not return to the game.
The injury reminded us of the one this Washington Capitals fan suffered just a few months ago while sitting in the stands. Even helmets can’t protect players from everything. Here’s hoping the 20-year-old has a full and speedy recovery.
