USC legend Keyshawn Johnson has officially turned on Clay Helton

Keyshawn Johnson

We’re only two games into the college football season and it’s already getting ugly for Clay Helton and USC.

The Trojans lost at home on Saturday night to Stanford 42-28. They were down 21-0 at the half and trailed 42-13 in the fourth quarter. And this all took place at home in the Coliseum.

Trojans fans were furious with Helton over the embarrassing defeat. Trojans legend Keyshawn Johnson, who starred for the team in 1994 and 1995, had a harsh comment.

It’s not good when a player of that caliber turns on you. When a coach loses the support of the fans and many prominent former players, it can result in a swelling of public pressure that can force action.

Not only is Johnson a former Trojan, but he also holds a broadcasting platform as a host on ESPN Radio.

USC has stood by Helton the last four seasons even though many were calling for his head after a 5-7 season in 2018. He needs to turn things around to keep the fan base off his back. Upcoming games against Washington State and Oregon State could help them turn things around.

Keyshawn Johnson says Tony Romo was a ‘major diva’

Keyshawn Johnson

Keyshawn Johnson was considered by many to be a “diva” during his NFL career, and he is tired of that label seemingly only being given to wide receivers.

Johnson was a guest on ESPN’s “First Take” Wednesday. He vented about how wide receivers are labeled “divas” the second they look openly frustrated or show “a certain swag.” He then argued that some of the biggest divas in NFL history have been quarterbacks.

According to Johnson, Tony Romo was a huge diva during his playing career. Johnson claims Romo was one of the neediest players he has ever been around, even though Romo wasn’t even a starting quarterback at that point.

We don’t know if that’s a fair assessment of Romo, but Johnson certainly has a point. Aaron Rodgers has become one of the biggest divas in sports. You could easily make the argument that he acted like one all offseason. The truth is a lot of NFL players have massive egos, not just receivers.

Keyshawn Johnson says daughter Maia has died

Keyshawn Johnson

Keyshawn Johnson shared the sad news on Monday that his daughter, Maia, has died at the age of 25.

Johnson shared the news via social media and said they are “heartbroken” and “devastated” by the loss of their daughter.

“It is with incredible sadness that I have to share the news about the passing of my beautiful Daughter Maia. Maia, as my first born child, has been the joy of my, and her Mother Shikiri’s, life. She came into our lives just as we were both coming of age as adults and has been a constant beloved presence for both of us. We are heartbroken and devastated by her loss. Shikiri, Maia’s siblings, our family and me appreciate your thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. We also all appreciate your support and respect for our privacy as we move forward. Thank you all, God Bless. Keyshawn Johnson, Sr.”

Maia was the first of two children born to Keyshawn and his first wife, Shikiri Hightower. Keyshawn has two more children with his second wife. No cause of death has been publicly revealed.

Keyshawn, 48, was the No. 1 pick in the 1996 NFL Draft. The former Pro Bowl wide receiver now serves as a media personality for ESPN.

Keyshawn Johnson: There is ‘something wrong mentally’ with Jameis Winston

Jameis Winston

Keyshawn Johnson is a former NFL star who should know plenty about becoming a distraction to his team, but he clearly feels that the issues Jameis Winston is dealing with go far beyond that.

Speaking on his KSPN-AM 710 radio show this week, Johnson said he couldn’t help but draw the conclusion that there is “something wrong mentally” with Winston after he heard about the alleged incident involving the quarterback and an Uber driver.

“When I saw [the Jameis report] I thought, ‘Man, you just can’t stay out of trouble,’” Johnson said, as transcribed by “And there’s something, and I’m not a doctor, nor do I plan on being, but there’s something wrong with you. If this is in fact true, the fact that you keep coming up with some type of sexual behavioral problems towards women, there’s something wrong mentally. I don’t care what anyone says. There’s something wrong.”

Winston, of course, has been suspended three games after he was accused of inappropriately touching an Uber driver in Arizona back in 2016. The woman went public with the allegations last year, claiming Winston grabbed her crotch without consent in a drive-through line at a fast food restaurant. Ronald Darby, Winston’s former teammate at Florida State, vouched for the QB and said he was also in the car and that nothing happened. However, details that have been pieced together make it seem like Winston took a separate Uber ride that same night without Darby, which is when the alleged incident took place.

Winston was infamously accused of rape while at Florida State, and he was also suspended by the Seminoles at one point for standing on a table in public and yelling an inappropriate sexual phrase. Those are the incidents Johnson is referring to when he says Winston has “sexual behavior problems toward women.”

Johnson was arrested for domestic violence back in 2014, though he was cleared and never charged.

Keyshawn Johnson accused of impregnating another woman while married

Keyshawn Johnson

Keyshawn Johnson is reportedly facing a paternity test from a woman who claims he is the father of her 4-month-old child, and that woman is not the former NFL star’s wife.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ, a 35-year-old woman is seeking $4,346 a month in child support after she says she became pregnant with Johnson’s son back in 2016. The woman has asked a judge to order a paternity test for Johnson.

Complicating matters even further, Johnson is still legally married to Jennifer Conrad. Johnson’s estranged wife filed for divorce more than two years ago, and there was some talk of them reconciling at some point last year. However, Conrad told TMZ last summer that the divorce was back on.

Johnson has denied having a 4-month-old son with another woman, with his attorney telling TMZ “the allegations are absolutely false.”

Johnson is no stranger to being at the center of drama and gossip. His name came up in legal filings back in December 2014 by a man who believed the former NFL star was having an affair with his wife. The man said he found some inappropriate text messages that indicated his wife and Keyshawn were trying to arrange hook-ups.

Keyshawn Johnson says he told his son ‘you will not embarrass Nebraska’

Keyshawn Johnson Jr.

Keyshawn Johnson Jr announced that he is taking time away from the Nebraska football program in the wake of his June citation for possession of marijuana, and it sounds like the decision was mostly mandated by his father.

Former NFL wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson said this week that he hopes his son returns to the Cornhuskers in January. However, Keyshawn Sr. said the younger Johnson needs to prove he can “mature” and act more like an adult.

“One thing you will not do as my son is you will not embarrass Nebraska, you will not embarrass Mike Riley and you will not embarrass this family,” Johnson Sr. says he told his son, per Sam McKewon of the Omaha World-Herald. “If you mature and you’re ready to resume your football career and academic goals, then Nebraska will be ready to embrace you.”

Johnson Jr. has been living at home with his father. The former New York Jets receiver says he did not seek his son’s opinion about whether or not he wanted to leave the Nebraska program.

“I never asked him,” Johnson Sr. said. “At the end of the day, I don’t think that decision was in his hands. He squandered that decision. He still wants to play football, and he still wants to play for Nebraska. But if you don’t do the things you’re supposed to do, under the guidelines of me, it’s not going to happen.”

Johnson Jr. may take classes at a junior college this fall and he is not planning to play football elsewhere. In the meantime, Johnson Sr. says he is determined to teach his son that college football is not something you can take lightly.

“You’ve watched — on Instagram, on Facebook, on Twitter — everything’s a big party,” Johnson Sr. said. “You just want to get to college to party, but you don’t understand: You’re playing college football. It’s a business. And it’s a serious business. If you want to become successful — make it to the NFL — you’ve got to embrace it. You’ve got to own it. You don’t make it to the next level by cruising. There’s no cruise control.

There’s no ‘(Nebraska coach) Mike Riley is good friends with Keyshawn, so his son’s automatically going to play.’ That’s not the game. That’s not why he went to Nebraska. He went there to work his tail off. To have an opportunity to be successful. But when you don’t do that — and you squander that — what are you going to do?”

Based on some of the things Riley said recently, it was easy to conclude that Johnson Jr.’s leave of absence was not the equivalent of a suspension. His father might see it like one, however.

Keyshawn Johnson claims Jeff Fisher was ‘forced’ to draft Jared Goff

Jeff Fisher Rams

After the Los Angeles Rams were embarrassed on Monday night, one of the week’s big talking points has been why the team is so reluctant to even consider putting No. 1 pick Jared Goff under center. Could it be because the coach doesn’t really want him in the first place?

Former receiver and current ESPN personality Keyshawn Johnson says he’s heard that coach Jeff Fisher did not want Goff in the first place back in April.

“From my outside people and the inside people that I know with the Rams, that wasn’t the choice that Jeff Fisher really wanted,” Johnson told The Stephen A. Smith Show on Tuesday. “I think he was basically forced to draft Jared Goff.

“I think he wanted more players. I think he wanted more players because he felt that he could be more competitive with more players, but they felt they needed to make a splash moving into Los Angeles and drafting a quarterback.”

Perhaps this is part of the reason that Goff isn’t even getting a look despite Case Keenum’s uninspiring performance. It stands to reason that the decisionmakers in Los Angeles wanted to make a statement come draft time over Fisher’s objections.

Keyshawn addresses Chip Kelly rumors during speech to USC football team (Video)

Almost immediately after Steve Sarkisian was fired earlier this week, rumors started to swirl about who would be USC’s next football coach.

Chip Kelly’s name was a popular one linked to the school. However, he didn’t waste much time shooting that speculation down. With that, for now, in the rear view mirror, the focus is on interim head coach Clay Helton. And, that’s exactly how it should be, according to Trojans great Keyshawn Johnson.

Johnson spoke to the football team on Thursday and, as heard in the above video, told the guys to forget about the possibility of Kelly coming to town.

“The world will be watching to see how you respond. If you respond positively, they say nothing. If you respond negatively, it’s ‘He’s not the guy. Get him out of here, oh, why don’t we go get Chip Kelly, he can run the offense?’ Enough of that,” Johnson said, as shared by Kyle Bonagura of ESPN. “It’s your opportunity to make [interim coach] Clay Helton the head coach. It starts Saturday.”

After being ranked No. 10 in the preseason Coaches Poll, the Trojans (3-2) are currently outside of the top 25 and travel to face No. 13 Notre Dame this weekend. It has obviously been a tumultuous week around the program, so it’s a bit tough guess how the team will respond. Johnson wasn’t the only former USC player to address the team, as Willie McGinest was reportedly among those on hand to give words of encouragement and inspiration.

At the midway point of the season, there’s time for USC to salvage the season. As Johnson noted, doing that begins on Saturday.

Keyshawn Johnson, wife Jennifer Conrad getting divorce

Keyshawn Johnson and his wife Jennifer Conrad are getting a divorce just seven months after they were married.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Conrad filed for divorce earlier this month, citing irreconcilable differences. Conrad says the couple separated in February and signed a prenuptial agreement before tying the knot.

If you have kept up to date on your Keyshawn gossip, the divorce filing shouldn’t surprise you. Back in December, Johnson’s name came up in legal filings by a man who believed the former NFL star was having an affair with his wife. The man said he found some dirty text messages that indicated his wife and Keyshawn were trying to arrange hook-ups.

Johnson and Conrad got married on a beach in California in August. Conrad has asked for custody of the couple’s two children. Sources reportedly told TMZ that it is possible the two could still reconcile.

Keyshawn Johnson accused of having affair with married woman

Keyshawn Johnson

Keyshawn Johnson’s name came up in legal filings by a man who believes the former NFL receiver was having an affair with his wife.

The man who filed the papers — Brian Holloway — got engaged to Alicia Tarry in December. The two married in May, but Holloway is looking to have the short-lived union annulled based on fraudulent grounds.

Below is a look at the couple:

According to TMZ, Holloway found dirty Twitter direct messages between Keyshawn and Tarry.

Per TMZ, the direct messages “include some racy language about arranging possible hook-ups between Alicia and Johnson.”

They say Johnson asked Tarry for “a p**** shot.” Tarry supposedly responded, “I’ll get one in a few sorry have a guest over.”

Holloway apparently got a hold of his wife’s phone at some point because he told Johnson over DM to leave his wife alone.

Tarry told TMZ she did not cheat on her husband with Johnson and that the messages were illegally obtained.

Johnson, who married his longtime girlfriend Jennifer Conrad in August, has been active on his Twitter account since the story came out but did not address it.
