Like any other responsible sports outlet, we have given plenty of coverage to Derek Jeter over the last few months. You may not enjoy it, but the Yankee captain has been a significant sports topic for a variety of reasons. Whether it was Jeter skipping the All-Star game because he was tired, Christian Lopez giving his 3,000th hit ball back and asking for nothing in return, or David Price selling out to help commemorate the road to 3,000, there has been plenty to talk about. The only difference now is you don’t have to listen.
As Big League Stew shared with us, an extension of the Google Chrome browser called “Jeter Filter” has been dessigned to wipe out any and all mention of Derek Jeter from your daily internet activities. Naturally, the program was designed by a Red Sox fan back when the Sox sucked and the Yankees were on a tear, but it was just recently completed and launched.
As for the settings — Jeter Filter users can choose from either mild, aggressive, or vindictive filtering with each level working progressively harder to eliminate No. 2 from your internet searches.
Whether you think the idea is a good one or not, this is sure to open up a new world of possibilities for those who are tired of hearing about people they hate. If Jeter Filter’s creator, Rob Spectre, can design a tool to remove a baseball player from your browser, I’m sure it is possible to do the same for any public figure we hear too much about. Spectre is probably about to become very famous.
