Dan Shaughnessy During Rain Delay: Red Sox Season Won’t End Tonight (Video)

Red Sox Nation may weep following the team’s September collapse, but at least they have a proper scapegoat to blame for Wednesday night’s improbable occurrences. While the Red Sox were in a rain delay and leading the Orioles 3-2, noted Boston Globe writer Dan Shaughnessy proclaimed on NESN that “the Rays are not going to win tonight … the Red Sox season is not going to end tonight.” Here’s the video via Fan Phooey:

Of course we all know how that one turned out. I have to admit, I felt the same way as Shaughnessy. The only difference is that if I were on TV, I wouldn’t call a sporting event over well before it ends. That can only make one look foolish, and in Shaughnessy’s case, it will probably result in a lot of hate from Boston fans. Besides, if they want another scapegoat to blame (besides John Lackey or Carl Crawford), they can blame this guy. The Sox went 7-18 since he showed up at Fenway Park.
