Nationals, Wilson Ramos reportedly have yet to hold extension talks

Nationals catcher Wilson Ramos has been having a textbook contract year, but the team still has yet to bat an eye.

According to a report by Jorge Castillo of the Washington Post on Thursday, the Nationals and Ramos still have yet to hold contract extension talks.

“They have told me absolutely nothing still,” Ramos was quoted as saying. “I’d like [to have my future here], but those are decisions they make … They haven’t made any calls or communicated with us. We’re still waiting.”

Ramos, 28, has been absolutely raking in 2016 with a .331 batting average and a .917 OPS to go along with 16 home runs and 59 RBIs in just 91 games. He becomes a free agent after the season.

Also topping out as a solid defensive catcher, Ramos has done more than enough to earn a rich payday this coming offseason. We’ll just have to wait and see if the Nationals, who also have 23-year-old backstop Pedro Severino lurking on standby, will be the team to shell it out for him.
