Al Horford says Rockets were his No. 2 choice in free agency
Al Horford chose to stay in the Eastern Conference this past offseason, but he briefly flirted with the idea of a move to the West.
Horford, who left the Atlanta Hawks in July to sign with the Boston Celtics, said ahead of the Celtics-Rockets game on Monday that Houston was his No. 2 choice in free agency, per Adam Himmelsbach of the Boston Globe.
Al Horford made it clear the Rockets were his No. 2 choice. "Especially here and Boston were the two teams I was really, really looking at."

Horford, 30, would have been an intriguing fit in the offensive scheme of Rockets head coach Mike D’Antoni given his comfort playing at a fast pace and the recent addition of a regular three-point shot to his toolkit. It’s not like the interest was one-sided either. But Horford ultimately chose the Celtics instead as the Rockets proceeded to toss their free agent money at the likes of Ryan Anderson and Eric Gordon.
With the Rockets at 13-7 on the year and the Celtics at 12-8, Horford will have some extra motivation playing at Houston on Monday night to prove that he made the right decision.
